Over 200k Bikers Expected To Attend OC Bikefest

Posted: Updated:

OCEAN CITY, Md - An estimated 200,000 bikers are expected to attend the OC Bikefest this year.

The event opened on Thursday. This is the OC Bikefest's third annual event. Bikefest was started when there was a higher demand for events to occur on the beach. Cliff Southerland, one of the partners for OC Bikefest and OC Bike week, says that the bikers who are in attendance are just as important to the town as the tourist.

"The average rider that comes here is 52-years-old and makes $94,000. They spend twice the normal tourist and they have to pay for everything they consume. There's no trunks, no food that they are carrying and they're not carrying their own beer so they have to pay everything that they consume,"
