Police In Anne Arundel Charge Man With Fuel Theft

Posted: Updated:

PASADENA, Md. (AP) - Anne Arundel County police say they've arrested a man and charged him with stealing hundreds of gallons of diesel fuel from area businesses.

Police say 49-year-old Robert D. Murphy of Pasadena has been linked to the theft of 660 gallons of diesel in Millersville and Severna Park. They are also investigating his possible connection to similar thefts. Police say an anonymous tip directed police to Murphy and that they observed him taking fuel on two occasions in August.

Police said Friday at a news conference that there have been 10,000 gallons of diesel fuel stolen in the county in 2013.

Murphy was charged Aug. 31 with theft, destruction of property, trespassing and multiple counts of burglary. He also faces gun charges.

Murphy does not have a listed telephone number.
