Crowd Gathers In Support Of Hudson Farms

Posted: Updated:

BERLIN, Md - After farmer Alan Hudson and poultry giant Perdue won a lawsuit against the Waterkeeper Alliance, there's been an increased support for the farming industry from public figures and the community.

"Quite simply, we're just here to celebrate Alan Hudson and we're here to celebrate the community that put their arms around Alan and his farm to keep his property," says former chairman of New Day Maryland, Charles Loller.

Loller spoke at the event, talking about the importance of preservation of the Chesapeake Bay and the importance of the farming industry.

"10 years ago, the ratio of farmers to families being fed were 25-1. Now it's 125-1. So for every one farmer, they feed 125 families because the industry itself is beginning to shrink because of these types of regulations," says Loller.

While Loller spoke on the issues of farming, Hudson is just glad to know that he has the support of his community.

"How many people have $500,000 dollars to defend themselves like this. If it weren't for the community helping us, I don't know if we got as far as we did," says Hudson.
