DORCHESTER CO., Md. - The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office says a 23-year-old woman was arrested on dog fighting charges in Federalsburg.

According to reports, Ashley Greenhawk of Linkwood, Maryland was arrested on Sunday after a month long investigation revealed she was involved in the mistreatment and abuse of 13 Pit Bulls.

Reports say Dorchester County Dog control officers seized the dogs during the investigation and found the dogs had various injuries consistent with dog fighting. Officials say Greenhawk was charged with animal cruelty and Dog fighting among other charges. She was reportedly released by a court commissioner on her own recognizance.

The dogs were taken to a veterinarian where it was reportedly decided that 10 of the adult dogs had to be euthanized due to their condition. Two puppies were treated and vaccinated and are able to be adopted, the other adult dog was a female and has since delivered 9 puppies.
