Cambridge Man Arrested On Drug And Weapons Charges

CAMBRIDGE, Md. - A traffic stop lands a Cambridge man behind bars on weapons charges. Cambridge Police say on Saturday around 10:15 PM, on Route 50, officers stopped a vehicle for the investigation of an impaired driver.

During the stop, the officer reportedly saw that the driver, 27-year-old Corey Sampson, had a handgun sitting on his lap, and apparently smelled marijuana. Police say they searched the vehicle and found a large amount of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia, including scales and packaging materials. The handgun had reportedly been stolen from Delaware.

Sampson was charged with illegal possession of a handgun on person and in vehicle, possessing a handgun with a felony conviction, firearm use in a commission of a felony, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, possession of CDS paraphernalia, and related weapons charges. He is being held on $500,000 bond.
