BEAR, Del. (AP) - Authorities say one man was critically injured and dozens were displaced after a two-alarm fire at an apartment building in Bear.
Christiana Fire Company Chief Rich Perillo says the first firefighters to arrive at the Village of Canterbury Apartments on Monday night found heavy fire coming from the third floor and working its way to the roof.
Perillo says firefighters found a man unconscious on the third floor and dragged him through heavy fire to safety. Officials say the man was taken to Christiana Hospital in critical condition.
The state fire marshal's office says the cause of the fire is under investigation and damage is estimated at $1 million.
The Red Cross has been called to help displaced residents.
