Man, 72, Killed In Milford, Suspect Kills Himself

Posted: Updated:

MILFORD, Del. - Delaware State Police say a 72-year-old man was fatally shot outside a home in Milford and the suspect has killed himself.

Troopers were called to the home Sunday afternoon after 72-year-old Clarence "Pete" Short was found shot in the yard of a home on Williamsville Road. Short was taken to Milford Memorial Hospital where police say he was pronounced dead.

Police say 42-year-old Lorenzo Johnson, a suspect in Short's shooting, barricaded himself in the home and police tried to contact him to persuade him to surrender. When members of the special operations response team entered the home Sunday night, police say they found Johnson dead. Police say he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
