Smyrna, DE - A Dover man is in custody after Delaware State Police say he broke into a female's home, and raped her.
Detectives were called out yesterday morning to investigate an apparent rape, north of Leipsic. The investigation revealed that a 44 year old woman was asleep in her room, on a worker camp for the Wicks Farm, when a man identified as Felix Sanchez forced his way into her room armed with a knife, then held the blade of the knife to the victim's neck and demanded sex. The victim was forced to comply and after the sexual assault, the suspect fled the room in an unknown direction.
Troopers were given a description of the suspect, and made contact with Sanchez, who resided in a room adjacent to the victim. The man was taken into custody without incident.
Felix Sanchez was charged with first and second degree rape, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, home invasion, second degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, theft under $1,500, and criminal mischief. He's been committed to JTVCC on $117,250.00 cash bail.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where she was treated for small lacerations to her neck and released.
