Military Practice Round Found In Queen Anne's Co Parking Lot

Posted: Updated:

SUDLERSVILLE, Md. - An investigation is on-going, after a piece of military equipment was found in a Queen Anne's County parking lot.

The Maryland State Police and the Fire Marshal's Bomb Squad says on Thursday, they responded to Darlene's Tavern on Sudlersville Road, in Sudlersville, after an unknown military type device was found partially buried in the parking lot. According to the report, witnesses said the object fell to the ground around 9:20 PM.

An investigation by bomb technicians, determined the object to be a practice aerial bomb, that was probably dropped by a military aircraft flying nearby. The device was removed from the ground with assistance and excavation equipment from the Maryland State Highway Administration.

The bomb was turned over the Air National Guard, who is reportedly actively looking into how the device was dropped.
