Salisbury Says 'Old Mall' Rubble Pile Must Go

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - Thursday, Salisbury Mayor Jim Ireton announced the site for the "Old Mall" on Civic Avenue has been ordered to remove the rubble pile that's been at the site since the Old Mall was demolished in June of 2008.

At the time, the rubble was thought to be used as road bed for the private streets in the residential development that was planned for the site.  According to the press release from the Mayor's office, once it was announced the plan wouldn't go forward, notifications were sent to property owner that the pile must be removed.

The owners, Salisbury Mall Associates, LLC, have apparently requested the pile be allowed to remain indefinitely.

There is a hearing set for September to discuss the future of the site.
