Worcester County Sheriff's Office Warns Of Contracting Scam

Posted: Updated:

WORCESTER CO., Md - The Worcester County Sheriff's Office says they are asking for information from anyone that feels they have been scammed by men claiming to do driveway work.

Over the weekend, WMDT reported that deputies were alerted of a suspicious group of white males, driving around with a burgundy Dodge four-door pick-up, with Virginia registration. The Sheriff's Office says they do not have proof that the group scammed anyone, but they have had contracting scams happen within the county in the past.

"We don't have any information that they've committed any crimes, we're just trying to be proactive," says Lieutenant Ed Schreier with the Worcester County Sheriff's Office.

Lieutenant Schreier says they have had cases where a person will offer to pave a victim's driveway, take money from them, and never do the work. They are asking anyone that may have been approached by these men, or possibly scammed, to contact Lieutenant Schreier at 410-632-11-11.
