WICOMICO CO., Md. - A Salisbury man is accused of threatening to burn down his mother's house.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office and the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office say a joint investigation showed that 53-year-old Philip Farrell threatened to burn his mother's home down, and messed with an electrical outlet in the kitchen of her Greenmount Avenue home.

Officials say Farrell confessed to attempting to defraud the insurance on the home, to pay bills. Reportedly, no fire damage was found on the house, during the investigation.

Farrrell was charged with threat of arson, and attempt to burn property. He was taken to the Wicomico County Detention Center, where he is awaiting bond review.
