SEAFORD, Del. - In June, a devastating car accident in Delmar, Delaware killed 27 year old Mindy Hicks, leaving her two young children without a mother.

Now, Mindy's family is trying to raise money for her 6 year old son Jaden and 4 year old daughter Laniah.

Mindy's sister, Roxanna, tells WMDT there will be a memorial and fundraiser event on September 1st from 11 AM to 6 PM at Soroptimist Park in Seaford, Delaware.

Though a tragedy, Roxanna says the incident has helped bring the family closer together, saying "They're coming together more closer with us as a family, and they realize that we're there for them no matter what.  And we basically go every day trying to make sure they're not struggling, so I think that's a good thing because we brought them closer to us."

There will be food, fun, games at the event, which also marks Jaden's seventh birthday.  If you'd like to help Jaden and Laniah visit the event Facebook page: A Memorial In Honor Of Mindy Hicks for her Children.
