Traffic Stop Lands Two Laurel Men Behind Bars

MILLSBORO, Del. - A traffic stop lead to the arrest of two Laurel men on drug and weapons charges on Wednesday. Delaware State Police say a Trooper stopped the Chrysler Concord on Long Neck Road, after if committed a moving violation, around 4:40 PM.

During the stop, the Trooper figured out that no one in the car had a valid drivers license, and that the driver, 22-year-old Michael Lowe, was wanted on an active capias. Lowe was taken into custody, during which, troopers found Oxycodone pills and $243.

According to the report, the Troopers then had the two passengers get out, during which one dropped a bag he was sitting on, and shoved it under the seat. Police say they searched the bag, and found .32 caliber revolver, along with a .22 caliber revolver with an obliterated serial number, 5.55 grams of marijuana and 13 bags, totaling .325 grams, of heroin, all under the seat.

During a search of the passengers, one, 23-year-old Klin Gootee, reportedly had 1.97 grams of marijuana, an Oxycodone pill, forty-two bags, totaling 1.05 grams, of heroin, and $216.00, on him. Gootee was also arrested. The third passenger was not charged.

Lowe and Gootee were both charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of a controlled substance in a tier I quantity, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, 2nd degree conspiracy, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both are being held at Sussex Correctional Institute on cash bail.
