UPDATE: Fruitland Walmart Bomb Threat Investigation Continuing

Posted: Updated:

FRUITLAND, Md. - We have more details, after two bomb threats were apparently called in to two Fruitland businesses on Monday night.

We're told four agencies including the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office and the Dover Air Force base were called to the scene along with three bomb sniffing dogs. Apparently there were also reports of bomb scares at the Walmart in Berlin and Prince George's County, but investigators say it's too early to tell whether or not these incidents are related.

Fruitland Police say around 7:05 PM they were contacted about bomb threats made via phone to both McDonalds and WalMart. According to the report, the areas were evacuated, perimeters secured, and K-9 teams from Dorchester and Worcester County Sheriff's Offices, along with a team from Dover Air Fore Base swept the businesses and surrounding areas. Police say that no explosive devices were found, so the areas were reopened around 9:50 PM.

Anyone with information on this investigation is asked to contact Detective Beaver at the Fruitland Police Department 410-548-2803.
