Sign Up, Still No Permit

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - The City of Salisbury is fighting back against the Red Light District store. Today, the city government made specific demands in three certified letters.

The first letter calls out the store for having their sign up in defiance of the city code that's a permanent sign the owners put up Saturday without the city's permission, and after covering up another sign for which they also didn't have a permit. The second letter demands specifications about the building layout and how it's being used, and The third demands financial information from the owners.

Mayor Jim Ireton says the store is essentially doing business while thumbing their noses at the city. Daily fines of $500 have been issued for having a sign up without permission. The owners have reportedly paid zero of these fines, and not responded to the city whatsoever.
