SUSSEX CO., Del. - Police are warning Sussex County residents, about a recent rise in lawnmower thefts.
Delaware State Police say since late April, they have investigated more than 30 lawnmower thefts in Central and Western Sussex County. According to the report, the stolen items are commercial grade, zero turn type lawnmowers, that were left outside, unsecured.
Police say that in several of the thefts, the owner left the mower on a trailer, and both the trailer and the lawnmower were stolen together. Troopers advise owners to store lawn mowing equipment inside a locked building when its not being used.
Police say they don't have any suspects at this time, but are asking anyone with information on these thefts, to contact Troop 4 at 302-856-5850, extension 206 or 209, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333. Tips can also be submitted to the DSP Mobile Crime App, texting DSP to CRIMES (274637), or by visiting the TipSubmit website.
