OC Police Increase Enforcement For National Red Light Awareness

Posted: Updated:

OCEAN CITY, Md. - Along with the many law enforcement officers across the country, the Ocean City Police Department says they are honoring National Red Light Awareness Week. Starting August 5th, they are increasing enforcement against red-light running.

Police say they want to remind all residents, and visitors, to stop at all red lights and stop signs. Chief of Police, Ross Buzzuro says, traffic, especially with pedestrian safety, is on their priority list in order to make sure both drivers and pedestrians are safe. Chief Buzzuro says that current statistics show that motorists are driving better.

"Each death is one too many. Right now the trends are lower and that's really thanks to the efforts on both sides, along with awareness and education."
