Eden Man Charged With Burglary In Berlin

BERLIN, Md. - An Eden man is behind bars, after he allegedly burglarized a home after arriving in a stolen car. Berlin Police say on Sunday, they received a report of a burglary in progress.

When officer arrived on scene at the Bay Street home, they reportedly found 21-year-old Jason Lee Payne standing outside the unit, and when he saw the officers, they say he forced his way into the unit and assaulted three occupants. Police say they Tased Payne, and took him into custody.

During the arrest, Police reportedly found a fixed blade knife on Payne, and that Maryland State Police had warrants out for his arrest for an incident earlier in the week, where Payne had apparently stolen a vehicle, that they also found at the Bay Street scene.

Payne was charged with 1st degree burglary, 3 counts of 2nd degree assault, and concealed weapon. He is being held without bond on both cases.
