SALISBURY, Md. - A local police force is working to cut down thefts from businesses. Salisbury Police say they are hoping by publicizing the arrests they make for shoplifting, they will, in turn, reduce incidents of the crime.

They say that shop-lifters contribute to retailers having to raise costs to cover those stolen items. US retailers report $35 million in stolen merchandise, every day.

From July 29th through August 5th, 2013, Salisbury Police say they made 17 shoplifting arrests.

Michael Wilkinson, 30, of Seaford, DE
Marchel Burns, 21, of Princess Anne, MD
Keanna Jackson, 20, of Eden, MD
Deion Ayers, 18, of Milton, DE
And 13 juveniles

All 17 people were charged with theft.
