Posted: Updated:

LAUREL, Del. - Police are investigating a reported attempted abduction in Laurel. Delaware State Police say a 20-year-old woman told them she was walking on Whitesville Road (SR30), near Old Stage Road, around 3:00 PM, on Sunday, when a white 4 door sedan pulled un front of her, and the driver got out.

According to the report, the woman started to run when the driver was startled by a passing car. Police say the vehicle turned around and pull back in front of the woman. The driver then got out, grabbed the woman, and reported tried to put her into his car. The woman was apparently able to free herself from the subject's grasp, all in the view of a passing vehicle.

The man reportedly got back into his car and fled. The passerby drove the victim to Delmar Police to report the incident.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man 5' 7-8" tall, 135-140 pounds, with black hair down to his ears, wearing a black t-shirt, blue jeans, and sneakers, driving a white 4-door sedan, possibly with Virginia license plates.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Sgt G. Windish at 302-856-5850 ext. 218 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333. Tips can also be submitted to the DSP Mobile Crime App, texting DSP to CRIMES (274637), or by visiting the TipSubmit website.
