Salisbury Rotary Stuff Backpacks For Deserving Children

Posted: Updated:

SALSIBRUY, Md. - Ready or not, it's already time to start thinking about going back to school.

For families across Delmarva, it can be a pretty stressful time...worrying about how to pay for school supplies for their kids.  So, Saturday, the Salisbury Sunrise Rotary Club and the Rotary Club of Wicomico County were out collecting backpacks and school supplies at the K-Mart off Route 50 in Salisbury.  It's all for their annual backpack and school supply give away, where they will hopefully have more than 600 backpacks full of supplies to give away to needy children in our area.

"The need is still there and the need continues to grow and that's what's sad, but everyone who can help the community, can help by helping us, and we can acknowledge them...all the time," says Marie Calafiura with Salisbury Rotary.

The backpacks and supplies will be given away to children in need on August 17th, starting at 9:30 AM at the Christian Shelter in Salisbury.  They're still looking for donations, contact Marie Calafiura at mcalafiura@worwic.edu.
