CHINCOTEAGUE, Va. - The Coast Guard rescued an ejected pilot, after two planes apparently collided in mid-air, near Chincoteague.

According to the report, around 10:30 PM on Thursday, Coast Guard 5th District Command Center watchstanders were notified of a distress signal from an ejection seat of an Air National Guard plane.

Officials say they discovered that two 113th Wing D.C. Air National Guard F-16C Falcon jets had collided in mid-air. One falcon was able to fly back to Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, while the other pilot ejected.

A Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City aircrew aboard an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter flew out, and around 12:30 AM, on Friday, the crew located the pilot. He was brought back to Joint Base Andrews, reportedly in good condition.

Officials say the mishap is under investigation at this time.
