Millsboro Residents Fight Against Proposed Chicken Plant

Posted: Updated:

MILLSBORO, Del. - Concerned residents gathered at the Indian River Senior Center on Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, to discuss the proposed chicken processing plant.

Locals tell WMDT that agencies such as DelDot and the Department of Agriculture had 31 days to write out comments about the plant, that were due today. On the other hand, residents will only have seven days, until August 7th, to turn in their comments. In addition, they have to drive down to the Sussex County Court House to do so. Residents also say that an appeal of the proposal is in the works.

Tonight's meeting comes a month after Allen Harim Foods coordinated a meeting with locals, some who live directly across from the plant, to address their concerns. So far, there is still no date set for when the county will actually vote on the plant.
