Pesticide Group To Meet In MD Aug 12th; Locals Express Concern

Posted: Updated:

MARYLAND - The Maryland Pesticide Reporting and Information Work Group says they plan to meet for the second time on August 12th, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, in the Environmental Matters Committee Room in the House Office Building in Annapolis.

The agenda will focus on pesticide data needs, and identifying any data gaps in pesticide use and reporting, so people can be more informed on how much, and where, these chemicals are being used. For many locals in Wicomico County, how these pesticides are being used is a concern.

"I'd be concerned if the mist was spraying actively while kids or myself were near the vicinity," says Mike Campbell of Salisbury.

"I think around playgrounds and stuff like that, if it's on the equipment, children put it in their mouth," says Paige Scheyeler of Salisbury.

WMDT also spoke with the Maryland Department of Agriculture and local farmers. To hear what they have to say, stay tuned over the next week, and we will bring you more on this pesticide issue in Maryland.
