DELMAR Del. - One Delaware girl is celebrating more than just a tiara and trophy.

Gigi Gijanto, 9, recently won the Junior Miss National Pure American Pageant in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. It's a competition that promotes the values of good self-esteem and self-confidence in women and girls of all ages.

On top of an interview and speaking on stage, during the competition, Gigi says she highlighted her charity that she started with her brother Sam Gijanto, called "Kids Say Thank You." According to Gigi's mom, Barb Gijanto, they started the charity to "help make their community a better place."

"We go around and collect old DVDs that people have in their house that they don't use anymore and we're also raising money for the [Delmar Police Department dog's by buying] bulletproof vests for the dogs," said Gigi Gijanto.

Gigi also received a proclamation from Rep. Tim Dukes (R) congratulating her on her charity and win.
