Crash Outside Seaford; Motorcyclist Seriously Injured

Posted: Updated:

SEAFORD, Del. - Delaware State Police say a Georgetown man suffered a serious head injury in a crash Saturday outside of Seaford.

According to reports, at around 10:40 AM, Joseph Thomas, 65, was riding a 2012 Harley-Davidson motorcycle north on Concord Pond Road, south of Hastings Farm Road, when it left the east side of the roadway and drove into a ditch. When the motorcycle began to leave the ditch, Thomas was reportedly ejected from the vehicle, and landed with his head striking a roadside utility box. Thomas was allegedly not wearing a helmet.

Police say Thomas was transported by ambulance to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and then flown to Christiana Hospital where he was admitted with a serious head injury. Concord Pond Road was closed for approximately two hours as Troopers investigated and cleared the crash.
