SMYRNA, Del. - Police wrap up a month long drug investigation in Smyrna, with two arrests. Delaware State Police say on Thursday around 2:00 PM, the Kent County Governor's Task Force, State Police Special Operations Response Team, and Dover Police Department Drug Unit, searched a room at the Economy Inn Motel on South DuPont Highway in Smyrna.

Police say when they entered the room, 38-year-old Anthony Jones, of Smyrna, fled into the bathroom, where he apparently started flushing cocaine down the toilet. Authorities were able to take him into custody without further incident. Police also arrested 50-year-old Elzie Gibbs, of Dover, in the room. Police reportedly found 15.5 grams of cocaine, along with drug paraphernalia.

Both men were charged with possession of cocaine, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, 1st degree conspiracy, tampering with physical evidence, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jones was additionally charged with resisting arrest. Both are being held at James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on bond.
