2013 Walk To End Alzheimer's Kick-Off Party In Salisbury

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - The official start to fundraising and recruitment for the 2013 Walk To End Alzheimer's has begun.

Roadie Joe's in Salisbury hosted the kick-off party for the walk tonight, where participants and team captains came out to socialize and learn more about the Alzheimer's Association and the walk. The annual event will be on October 26th this year, at the Wicomico County Senior Center in Salisbury. Registration begins at 9:00 AM and the walk begins at 10:00 AM, and WMDT's Travis Michels and Lenita Wesson will emcee the event.

"We are having this walk so that we can raise money and raise awareness for alzheimers and other dementias," says Megan O'Neil, volunteer and co-chair of the 2013 Walk To End Alzheimers on the Eastern Shore. "We provide an awful lot of support to families and sufferers of alzheimers and dementia, and we also support research for the cure."

O'Neil says they are about halfway in the number of teams they would like to see register. They are hoping for 65 teams, 700 walkers, and to raise more than $100,000. To learn more, or to register, visit the event's website.
