NEWPORT, Del. (AP) - Delaware health officials say the death of an 87-year-old New Castle County woman is the second linked to heat this year in the state.
The medical examiner's office ruled on Sunday that the Newport-area woman's death on Friday was an accident and heat exposure was a factor in her death. Officials did not release the woman's name.
The Department of Health and Social Services says the woman's death occurred two days after the state's first heat-related death this year. Officials say a 55-year-old New Castle County man found unresponsive outdoors had an underlying medical condition, but heat exposure contributed to his death.
