Prosecution Rebuts Defense In WikiLeaks Case

Posted: Updated:

FORT MEADE, Md. (AP) - Military prosecutors are attacking defense evidence in the court-martial of an Army private who gave loads of U.S. government secrets to WikiLeaks.

The government's rebuttal of the defense case continues Friday in the trial of Pfc. Bradley Manning at Fort Meade, near Baltimore.

The government says it will call a witness to rebut defense testimony that Manning was motivated partly by his dismay over the arrest by Baghdad police of people who apparently were trying to expose Iraqi government corruption.

On Thursday, a computer crimes investigator testified he found evidence Manning had viewed tweets from WikiLeaks indicating the anti-secrecy group was not a conventional journalistic organization.
