Head On Collision Under Investigation In Georgetown

Posted: Updated:

GEORGETOWN, Del. - Two people were taken to the hospital after a head on collision in Georgetown on Tuesday.

Delaware State Police say around 4:15 PM, 42-year-old Dwayne Karr, of Georgetown, was driving a Kia Sedona on Zoar Road, near Morris Mill Road, when he reportedly crossed over the center line, into the path of a 16-year-old Millsboro boy's truck. According to the report, the teen was able to move to the left and avoid Karr, but Karr reportedly jumped back into the correct lane, and hit the teen's pick-up truck head on.

The teen was treated for non-life threatening injuries at Beebe Medical Center. Karr, was also taken to Beebe, but later air lifted to Christiana Medical, where he is listed in fair condition.

Troopers say their investigation is on-going, and they believe that Karr was impaired at the time of the crash. Charges are pending. Police reportedly found 260 bags of heroin, and more than $1,500 in suspected drug proceeds, inside Karr's vehicle.
