Cooling Centers Open Around Delmarva

WMDT 47 NEWS - The following is a list of active cooling stations or places to beat the heat across Delmarva. If you know of any that you would like added, you can email newsroom@wmdt.com.

 

DELAWARE:

Kent County:

Beat the heat in Kent County at a library! Stop in, check your email, read a good book, and cool off. These local libraries have partnered with Kent County to help provide relief. They welcome any visitors who need to cool off.

Wicomico County:

July 17th through July 20th from 11 AM to 8 PM residents may cool off at the Wicomico County Civic Center in Salisbury. Residents will need to bring their own food, beverages, and medications. Authorities say no pets will be allowed in the cooling center.

The MAC Senior Center will not be opened as a cooling center on Saturday.

Anyone needing free transportation to the Civic Center should call Shore Transit at 443-260-2300.

For those of you over 50 can cool down at the MAC Senior Center, located at 909 Progress Circle in Salisbury, on July 17th through July 19th. You don't need to be affiliated with the MAC center in order to use the cooling center. The hours of operation for the center have been extended until 8:00 PM. Anyone needing free transportation to the Civic Center or the MAC Senior Center should call Shore Transit at 443-260-2300.

Worcester County:

The Worcester County Commission on Aging will have the Snow Hill Senior Center open as a cooling center on Friday and Saturday from 9AM to 5PM.  This cooling centers is for adults 55+.

VIRGINA:

Accomack County:

            Not hosting any cooling centers at this time.
