SALISBURY, Md. - A local police force is working to cut down thefts from businesses. Salisbury Police say they are hoping by publicizing the arrests they make for shoplifting, they will, in turn, reduce incidents of the crime.

They say that shop-lifters contribute to retailers having to raise costs to cover those stolen items. US retailers report $35 million in stolen merchandise, every day.

From July 7th, through July 14th, Salisbury Police say they made ten shoplifting arrests.

Marzel Lake, 38, of Salisbury
Melvin Ford, 35, of Salisbury
Markita Smith, 19, of Salisbury
Tyrone Heath, 41, of Salisbury
Joseph Worley, 25, of Pittsville
April Figgs, 29, of Salisbury
Candace Orr, 39, of Salisbury
Shavonne Austin, 25, of Fruitland
Terrell Conway, 27, of Fruitland
Michael Long, 26, no fixed address

All ten people were charged with theft.
