4th Annual Bookbag Giveaway: Supplies And Volunteers Needed

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - The "Extraordinary League of Gentlemen," a non-profit organization, says they are gearing up for their fourth annual bookbag giveaway on August 10th.

Right now, they are looking for volunteers, school supplies, and bookbags for the "Bright Minds with Bright Futures" event at North Lake Park from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. They are hoping to beat last year's total of 188 bookbags to ensure kids are ready for their first day of school. This year, they have paired up with the Maryland Food Bank to help fight the hunger epidemic that is sweeping across local communities. The are asking for each child in attendance to bring one non-perishable canned food item.

To make a monetary donation, visit the GoFundMe website, and to donate bookbags, visit the Stop the Violence Recreation Center located on 507 Calloway St in Salisbury. For more information on the event itself, call Chuck Smiley Jr. at 301-646-6930.
