Two Arrested After Apparent Fake Carjacking In Harrington

Posted: Updated:

HARRINGTON, Del. - Two men are behind bars after Police say they lied about a car jacking. Harrington Police say they responded to a possible carjacking at the Royal Farms on Milford-Harrington Highway. When they arrived on scene, they met with Jerry Evans 42, of Harrington and Michael Robbins 22, of Milford.

Police say they found drug paraphernalia on Evans, so he was taken into custody.

According to the report, Robbins then went on to tell officers that Evans had carjacked him, forced him to drive somewhere, and threatened Evans by telling him Robbins had a gun. An investigation reportedly showed that a carjacking hadn't actually taken place, that the two men had agreed to ride together to Lincoln to apparently buy drugs, and then drove back to Harrington.

Police also took Robbins into custody. He was charged with falsely reporting an incident to law enforcement officer. Evans was issued a criminal summons for possession of drug paraphernalia. Both men were later released.
