Suspected Delmar Gunman Apprehended

Posted: Updated:

WICOMICO CO., Md. - On Monday night, Twenty-nine year-old Eddie Savage Jr. sits in the Wicomico Detention Center, accused of shooting and killing 48 year-old Kenneth Sparks at Savage's home in Delmar Maryland.

WMDT spent much of Monday afternoon trying to paint a clearer picture of Eddie Savage Jr.  We attempted to reach out to Eddie Savage's family...both at the home in Delmar where police say the incident occurred, and at his family's home in Virginia, but those knocks went unanswered.

We have been in contact; however, with a member of Eddie Savage Junior's family on Facebook, who says she hopes the full truth about her cousin, and what happened that night, will surface.

We have learned that Savage, apparently an avid motorcycle racer, spent many of his weekends racing on the track at US 13 Dragway and Speedway in Delaware.  WMDT spoke with Charles Cathell, CEO of the speedway, about how he knows Savage.

"Junior and his father both race here with us, have been racing here with us  for quite a while junior runs under the bike program, and his father  runs in the super E-D category," says Cathell.

He also left a somber message for the Eddie Savage Junior, "no matter how bad it is, it could always be worse."

Eddie Savage Junior is being held and the Wicomico County Detention Center pending an initial hearing before a District Court Commissioner Tuesday morning.
