UPDATE: Murder Investigation Confirmed In Salisbury

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - Police are continuing their search for the suspects responsible for the murder of a Wicomico County man, who was shot on Monday near Salisbury.

The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Dominic Jones of Salisbury. Maryland State Police say the investigation began shortly before 4:30PM, when troopers responded to the area of Patrick Ave. and Keene Ave. after receiving reports of a shooting. When they arrived, troopers say they found what appeared to be blood in the 400 block of Patrick Avenue.  Preliminary reports indicated that someone, believed to be the victim, was seen running through that area toward a car before being driven away.  Police are maintaining a presence in the area and will be continuing the investigation there during the night.

Investigators have identified the vehicle as a dark colored car driven by friends of the victim, who may have driven him into the area and then to the hospital after he was shot.  Hospital personnel reported that Jones arrived in a similar car, accompanied by several other males and females.  Police say have located vehicle.

Maryland State Police say Jones was pronounced dead Monday afternoon at PRMC.  His body will be taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy. Investigators are confident the shooting is not connected with a murder that occurred on Sunday in Delmar, MD. No one has been arrested in connection with this murder.
