DELAWARE - Legislation that would encourage people to report an alcohol or drug overdose or other life-threatening medical emergency without fear of certain criminal charges was passed the House on Wednesday.
Under the bill, individuals who call for medical help for drug and alcohol overdose victims will be granted immunity from certain criminal prosecutions. The proposed legislation is called the Kristen L. Jackson and John M. Perkins, Jr. Law. Jackson died Jan. 31, 2012 at the age of 23. If the governor signs the bill, Delaware would join 12 other states and Washington, D.C. that have already enacted 911 Good Samaritan laws.
