Salisbury Drug Dealer Sentenced To 15 Years Behind Bars

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - A Salisbury man was reportedly sentenced to 15 years behind bars on Tuesday, after a Wicomico County jury convicted him of possession with the intent to distribute heroin and cocaine.

Maryland State Police turned up an outstanding warrant for Timyron Hutt, 23, and upon his arrest, troopers reportedly found a significant amount of heroin and cocaine. According to reports, the drugs were allegedly concealed in a baggie between the cheeks of Hutt's buttocks.

For 10 years of his sentence, he will not be eligible for parole, due to a statue from the Wicomico County State's Attorney's Office.

"We had him sentenced under the statue that gives a mandatory minimum penalty of subsequent offenders," says State's Attorney Matt Maciarello. "For a second offense it's 10 years, for a third offense it's 25 years and for a fourth offense it's 40 years."

State's Attorney Maciarello says that 87% of all crime committed in Wicomico County has some kind of drug connection, and through this statue, they are trying to keep drug offenders off the streets.

"Drug dealing is not a victimless crime," said Maciarello. "Heroin is a poison to our community."
