MD Leaders Look At New Technology, Laws At MML Convention

Posted: Updated:

OCEAN CITY, Md. -More than 1,000 government officials take to Ocean City this week for the annual Maryland Municipal League.

The MML provides educational and advocacy lectures for leaders to learn about new technology and bills that passed in the state this year. Among the leaders there is Delmar, Md. Mayor Carl Anderton, who says already the town is looking at alternative forms of police funding, as well as grant funding for new sidewalks from the Safe Streets program.

"We'll take this stuff back home and discuss it as a council and if there's things we can use, and I think there are, we'll go from there and apply for the grants and hopefully be successful," said Anderton.

This year's theme for the MML convention is "Cherish the Past," which organizers say emphasizes the history of each Maryland city while asking leaders to look ahead. The convention runs through Wednesday.
