DE State Police Investigate Fatal Crash In Newark

NEWARK, Del. - Delaware State Police say they are investigating a two vehicle collision that occurred yesterday evening on Old Baltimore Pike and Salem Woods Drive, leaving one person dead and one person critically injured.

According to reports, at about 3:15 PM, Charles Thompson of Newark, DE was driving westbound on Old Baltimore Pike, approaching the intersection of Salem Wood Drive, when he turned left directly in front of a vehicle driven by Michael Summers of Elkton, MD.

Charles Thompson was reportedly found unresponsive and was later pronounced dead at Christiana Hospital Trauma Center. Police said the front seat passage, Braden Boyer, was admitted in critical but stable condition. Both passengers were allegedly not properly restrained.

Michael Summers was reportedly properly restrained and not injured as a result of the crash.

Police are still investigating the collision.
