Update: Fatal Accident in Bethany Beach

UPDATE: Delaware State Police say at just about 4:40 p.m., Dorothy Brenner of Pittsburgh was on a bike when she reportedly tried to change lanes from the shoulder into traffic on northbound Coastal Highway.

She was struck by a 2007 Chevy van and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was uninjured.

Police are continuing their investigation into the accident.

BETHANY BEACH, Del. - Delaware State Police are on scene of a serious crash on northbound Coastal Highway just south of the Indian River Inlet Bridge. Information at this time is limited, but we have learned that a bicyclist was struck by a vehicle and there are reports of serious injuries. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and plan to use alternate routes. We will bring you the very latest information as it is available.
