Local Agencies Take Hard Hit After Sequester Cuts

Posted: Updated:

MARYLAND - Many local agencies are dealing with some big hits since the sequester cuts went into effect back in March.

The "Community Foundation" reported that local "Head Start" programs are taking a five percent cut, which could mean a loss of $386,000.

"Meals On Wheels" in Maryland may lose $900,000 overall, and housing assistance state-wide could be out $10. 3 million.

Officials said most non-profits rely on government grants for a third of their revenue, so this impact is immediate.
