Salisbury City Council Discusses New Bike Trails

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury City Council also tossed around the idea of new bike trails at Monday's work session.

The International Mountain Biking Association of the Eastern Shore is looking to revitalize the legacy trails in Salisbury City Park that have been there for hundreds of years.

The group sees many problems with the trails, such as erosion, and wants to clean them up, and possibly add a few additional routes.

"One of our primary goals is to have trails that are welcome to children. We want to give the youth in the area something free to do," said Jeff Dean, Trail Crew Leader with the Eastern Shore Chapter of the International Mountain Bicycling Association. "We're basically going to work with what the park has to offer already, and create very quiet trails as far as the impact on the land."

Some residents are against changes in this pristine area. However, the trails would reportedly only cover 35 acres out of the 113-acre park.
