Woman Killed in Crash Near Milford

MILFORD, Del. - A single-vehicle crash this afternoon near Milford has left one woman dead and a man injured.

The incident occurred on Sunday around 3:30PM on Cedar Beach Road, west of Lighthouse Road. Delaware State Police say 39-year-old Melissa Perez of Wyoming failed to maneuver a left curve and drove off the road through a soybean field.  The vehicle continue to travel before eventually hitting a utility pole, overturning on its passenger side. Perez was pronounced dead at the scene.
 

The passenger, 30-year-old James Perez of Dover, was transported to Milford Memorial Hospital, where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Both the driver and passenger were not properly restrained at the time of the crash.The incident is still under investigation.
