UPDATE: Woman Killed In Delmar Crash

Posted: Updated:

DELMAR, Del. - Police say a crash on Saturday evening killed one Delmar resident and left two others injured.

According to reports, at around 6:32 PM, Lisa Hicks, 45, drove a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt into the westbound lane of Pepperbox Road. As the car approached Brittingham Road, it allegedly went off the roadway into a drainage ditch along the south side of Pepperbox road. The vehicle then struck a driveway culvert, causing it to overturn several times.

Officials say Lisa Hicks, who was properly restrained, was flown to Christiana Hospital where she was admitted in critical condition. Mindy Hicks, 27, who was in the front seat of the car, was partially ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. The backseat passenger, Ernest Doney, 32, was not properly restrained and was ejected from the vehicle. He was admitted to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Serious condition.

Pepperbox Road was reportedly closed for about three hours as troopers investigated and cleared the area. The Collision Reconstruction Unit is still investigating.
