UMES Raises Money For Golf Program

Posted: Updated:

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Staff at UMES apparently want to help local students take advantage of a growing industry.

Tuesday night was the kick off for the university's Golf Management Program annual scholarship fundraiser.

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is one of twenty universities to offer a degree in Golf Management, and the only historically black college or university with the program.

"Seventy six billion dollar operation.  Ok.  So I'd like to tap into that for the young people and have the opportunity for young people to get that type of money her on the eastern shore," says Marshall Cropper, Head Coach of Golf at UMES.

UMES graduated its first Golf Management class in December, with seven students, and one more student graduated this spring, all of which, have reportedly found full time employment.
