Mastermind Behind Large Piracy Scheme Sentenced To 12 Years

WMDT 47 News - Xiang Li, age 36, of Chengdu, China, was sentenced to 12 years in prison Tuesday for conspiracy to commit wire fraud and criminal copyright infringement. 

In January, he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit copyright infringement and conspiracy to commit wire fraud involving a website called Crack 99 that sold pirated software. Over $100 million of sensitive, industrial-grade software and confidential data was stolen from the internal server of a cleared defense contractor.

Li will be deported to China pending his release from prison.
