Local Food Bank Dependency Has Declined

Posted: Updated:

MARYLAND -  Based on new data, the number of people on Maryland's Lower Eastern Shore who depend on the Food Bank, has dropped! Specifically, about 360 less are going hungry. Breaking that down, it means those residents are missing a little more than 6 million meals per year, which is down 400,000 from last year.

Broken down by County:

  • Caroline 3670
  • Dorchester 4890
  • Somerset 4700
  • Talbot 3540
  • Worcester 6500
  • Wicomico 13860

Total: 37160

The Maryland Food Bank tells us they believe this is because middle class families are actually bouncing back. Even better they say 2,000 fewer people are relying solely on the food bank for dietary needs.
